Biological and Environmental Services Program Program Overview:
The Biological and Environmental Services Program was established in September of 2007. The program combines two former LRES programs: The Fish and Wildlife Program and the Environmental Program. This reorganization assists LRES by providing more oversight for EPA funded projects and programs, and decreasing redundancy between environmental projects and fish and wildlife related projects. Under LRES, the Biological and Environmental Services Program assists other CIT programs in the areas of fisheries and wildlife management, water quality management and environmental management. The Program works to preserve, protect and enhance Coquille Indian Tribe's natural resources including their fisheries, wildlife, water, and forest lands. Program activities and functions include watershed/habitat restoration, fish and wildlife population enhancement, environmental resource management support, cultural resource management support, government to government development, and other general biological and environmental services. The Program provides water quality management services for streams on the Tribe's Empire Reservation, streams having the potential to be affected by forest management activities and uses data to evaluate existing conditions, determine impaired waters, and evaluate the effectiveness of restoration activities.
