Summary of SDIS
SDIS stands for Systems Development and Integration Services. And that's what we do: we provide the organization with services to develop, acquire, and integrate software systems to keep the Tribal Government's operations flowing smoothly. In plain English: SDIS does programming, web development, database development, assists with server administration, and helps to get the systems working together as one.
Our mission is to provide systems development and integration services to the Coquille Indian Tribe in support of all Information Technology (IT) applications used directly or indirectly to protect the sovereignty, culture, and membership of the Tribe.
GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is a part of the overall SDIS Program (see below). The SDIS Program works cooperatively on IT with the Tribe's two Management Information Systems Programs (Admin MIS & CHC MIS) as well as with the Tribal Member Services / Records Management Department.
Summary of GIS
Geographic Information Systems, or GIS, is a tool to assist in the storage, analysis, and presentation of spatial data. GIS is comprised of systems (such as software and computers), spatial data, and users. GIS Provides an organization or individual the ability to quickly query, relate and analyze data to generate useful information, assisting in the decision making process.
The Coquille Indian Tribe uses GIS in support of land management, planning, demographics, and natural resources. GIS helps save time and resources by answering questions visually and spatially.
