Community Programs and Services
Building Maintenance
This program is coordinated by Tribal member Sheldon Chase, with the assistance from Tribal members John Garrett and Dustin Beauvais. This three-person team performs all the duties for keeping the government buildings maintenance in order. Mowing, landscaping, beautification, cleaning, moving, minor repairs, painting, fire extinguisher checks, window cleaning, carpet cleaning, and a number of other duties as assigned. This crew is an integral part of every Tribal function. This crew provides set up and takes down of every event. They do a lot of behind the scene work, care for the vehicles, and look after day-to-day maintenance and messes of the operation.
Recent and pending projects:
- Middle Creek property: Fencing, installed gates, mowing and general maintenance.
- Bus shelter at Kilkich playground area
- Community Garden: Fencing, raised beds, water and plumbing
Vehicle Maintenance/Fleet Management
The vehicle policy was written and thoroughly reviewed by the motor vehicle policy ad hoc committee. It was signed and implemented in May 2009. The Tribe purchased two new vehicles this year; a Honda Hybrid Civic and a Honda Odyssey Van.
Firewood
John Garrett & Dustin Beauvais run the firewood program for the Elders and Disabled Tribal Members. If you are interested in receiving firewood from this program call Sheldon Chase.
The field operation crew keeps the free use lot filled with wood for those Tribal members with a free-use permit and the expertise to cut their own firewood. Please call Julie Chouquette if you have wood burning as a source of heat in your house for a permit. This program is not available for person(s) that want to sell fire wood for an income.
Emergency Housing Repair Program
The Tribal Council passed new income guidelines to expand this program. Tribal Members that own houses should look into applying for these funds. Please contact Sheldon Chase for an application and the review process to receive funding from this program.
