Planning and Economic Development
- Participating on the Coos County Area Transit Advisory board
- Participating on ONABEN ( A Native American Business Network) Board of Directors
- Provided Indianperneurship class to Tribal Members in Fall 2008 and will provide a class in the Fall of 2009.
- Continuing to work on the Board of Directors of the ATNI (Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians) Economic Development Corporation (EDC)
- Completed work on the Woody Biomass Feasibility Study
- Pursuing grants to provide funding to complete the planning and engineering for a Woody Bio9mass co-generation power plant.
- Tribal cemetery construction, Columbarioum set up May 2009
- Conducting Emergency preparedness and disaster mitigation work group consisting of CIHA, CHC, Tribal Police and Planning.
- Working with Public Affairs Research Consultants (PARC) grant writers to locate and apply for grants for various department and program projects
- Continuing to look into various economic development opportunities
- Working on 5-year plan tracking project (STARS)
- Administering STARS for Department / Program updates and reporting
- Master and Comprehensive Land Use planning in progress
- Work in progress on Land Use, Zoning and Codes
- Working with PARC on an ICDBG (Indian Community Development Block Grant) application to fund planning and construction of an Independent Elders Housing, Senior Center, Education, Library, Cultural Center and Health Clinic expansion.
- Participating in Curry County BioMass feasibility group
- Completed purchase and placement of bus shelter for Kilkich residents
- Completing negotiations with Coos County Area Transit to partner in re-establishment of the Charleston / Empire Loop Bus. Due for completion and funding in August 2009
- Applied for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block grant to provide metered solar power, hot water and low energy consumption lighting for Community Center.
- Participating member of the New Coquille Business Evolution Working Group
- Participated with Tribal Attorney in lobbing Oregon Legislators for passage of a Tribal Enterprise Zone Bill
- Pursuing the establishment of a RLF (Revolving Loan Fund) to be used for establishing or expanding small Tribal Member owned businesses.
