Cemetery Committee

The Cemetery Committee works with the Tribal Member Services program in matters regarding the development and use of internments of the Cemetery grounds located on the Tribe’s Empire Reservation and to advise Tribal Council on use of and development of the cemetery. 

These duties include:

• Review and evaluation of existing and proposed Cemetery policies and procedures; making recommendations to Tribal Council for approval, denial and/or amendment.
• Approve traditional or “green” burials prior to internment.
• Make recommendations to Tribal Council regarding planning and growth for the Cemetery.
• Approve planting of shrubs, trees and flowers on cemetery plots.
• Collect written appeal record regarding denials of service by Tribal Member Services.
• Approve all memorials to be placed on cemetery plots prior to their placement.
• Other duties as assigned by Tribal Council.
