Enrollment Committee

The Enrollment Committee works with the Tribal Member Services program to make applications for enrollment available on request and to establish, and maintain, the Tribal Roll.  Committee members review and approve applications for enrollment into the Coquille Indian Tribe and provide recommendations to Tribal Council regarding approval, or rejection, of these applications.  Committee members review applications and related documents to assure applications are completed and that adequate documentation is received to determine if the application and supporting documentation proves the applicant is eligible for membership in the Coquille Indian Tribe.

All applications for enrollment and all documents provided to support an application for enrollment is considered confidential information.  These documents are under the control of the Enrollment Committee and Tribal Member Services program and access to such information is kept on a need-to-know basis. 

The Duties of the Enrollment Committee include:

• Hold meetings with the Tribal Member Services program coordinator when it is necessary to review enrollment applications.   The Committee reviews each application for membership and makes a determination on the applicant’s qualifications.  When the Committee determines that all necessary information has been provided, Coquille Indian Tribe lineage is established and that the applicant qualifies for enrollment in the Coquille Indian Tribe, the Committee will provide a written recommendation to the Tribal Council.
• If it is determined that more information is needed to establish an applicants qualifications for enrollment, the Committee will direct the Tribal Member Services program to contact the applicant and request additional information in support of the application.
• If it is determined the application fails to establish eligibility for enrollment in the Coquille Indian Tribe, the Committee will forward a written recommendation for rejection of the application to the Tribal Council.
